Faith Beamon, 19.

Faith Beamon, the young mother who was in a horrible car accident while on her way to school in December in Mount Pleasant, recently celebrated her 19th birthday, surrounded by friends and family.

She has been home since April with parents Brian and Christie by her side and is responding to her baby boy, Aaron, who was 7 weeks old at the time of her accident.

“We are so glad to have her home, but we still need prayers,” Christie said. “She's doing really good. She can count on her fingers to five, she blinks and nods her head to communicate. She tries to help us take care of her, she's getting her strength back.”

Christie said the family is now in the process of trying to find a wheelchair-accessible van.

“Right now we have home nursing come and help us but we are still trying to get her into Baylor Scott & White for the aggressive therapy that she needs.”

Christie said most of the major surgeries are done and she was told Faith would start to progress with her recovery.

“I believe she's starting to do that,” she said. “But as a mother, any progress is huge. It's been a benefit for her to hear and see Aaron everyday.”

Christie said Faith has enjoyed visits from family and friends and encourages anyone who wants to visit to reach out and make sure it's a good time.

“We are thankful for the prayers, contributions, cards, texts and food people have brought us,” she said. “There are no words other than, thank you Jesus, because he's the one who brought us this far. I still read Isaiah 41:10 everyday because it gives me the strength I need.”
