A rollover crash around 5:45 p.m. Friday, June 14, in the 1000 block of W. Second Ave. left two people hospitalized.
According to the Corsicana Police crash reports, a 2008 Red Lexus, driven by Brian Rodriguez Martinez, 21, of Corsicana was traveling west in the 900 block of W. Second Ave. in the inside lane, behind a 2012 Silver Chrysler Town & Country Van.
An unidentified driver was traveling south in the 500 block of N. 19th St. and stopped at the intersection of N. 19th St. and W. Second Ave. at a stop sign.
Martinez sped up to pass the Chrysler and moved to the outside lane when the driver pulled out into the intersection.
Martinez swerved to miss the vehicle and failed to control speed, causing him to lose control. He swerved left into the eastbound inside lane while over-correcting and lost control, sliding partially sideways into the parking lot at 1008 W. Second Ave. striking a 2009 Black Chevrolet Impala driven by Sondra Scoggins, 60, of Fairfield.
After hitting Scoggins he rotated clockwise until he hit a large metal pole, impacting the driver side door. He then flipped onto the roof of the vehicle coming to a stop facing south.
Martinez was transported by air to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and Corsicana Emergency Medical Services transported Scoggins to Navarro Regional Hospital.
The unidentified driver left the scene before officers arrived, however never made contact with Martinez.
