Each year on Veterans Day and Memorial Day, the memorial committee holds a service at the memorial to honor all nations veterans which served to protect our nations freedoms.
This year's service will begin promptly at 11 a.m. starting with a flyover by the Coyote Squadron from Corsicana followed by the raising of our nation's flag and then the National Anthem, played by the award winning Kerens High School band. The event has continued to grow each year, having as many as 180 spectators in attendance.
Everyone is encouraged to attend this event regardless of where you are from, whether you served in the military or would just like to give thanks to the veterans who did serve. The committee encourages you to bring your children and grandchildren, teaching them to honor all veteran heroes and the sacrifices they made.
This year, the memorial committee has a special announcement to make concerning an upcoming event that will no doubt help the memorial to continue to grow, and be a wonderful addition to the memorial and the continued improvement of downtown Kerens.
Immediately after the service, the Know His Grace Church of Kerens will furnish a free barbecue dinner and fellowship to all those who have attended the Veterans Day event at the memorial. The public is invited to celebrate and honor all veterans at the Kerens Veterans Memorial.
