Corsicana Police Officers Association endorses Will Thompson for District Attorney
The Corsicana Police Officers Association announced their endorsement of Will Thompson to be Navarro County’s next District Attorney Oct. 14.
“I am grateful and humbled by the support I have received from our law enforcement community in Navarro County.” Thompson said, responding to the endorsement.
“I have worked alongside these officers for more than 12 years and I look forward to continuing to partner with law enforcement to keep our community safe.”
This endorsement comes on the heels of Thompson’s campaign receiving significant support from many local leaders.
Will Thompson is a veteran, businessman, and attorney who has worked in Corsicana for the past 12 years. During his service in the Navarro County District Attorney’s Office, Thompson has prosecuted virtually every type of case including narcotics, DWI, intoxication manslaughter, aggravated robbery, homicide, organized crime, aggravated sexual assault, and sexual assaults of children. He has tried more than 100 cases to juries in Navarro County courts.
He worked closely with Lowell Thompson to implement various initiatives including a “no refusal” policy for intoxication offenses which increased the rate of conviction from 50% to 95%; a pretrial diversion program for young, nonviolent first-time offenders; and training and protocols for investigation of family violence assaults which has also increased the rate of successful prosecution.
Thompson has conducted numerous training programs for newer prosecutors and with law enforcement officers from every agency in Navarro County.
