To the Editor: Shane Tolleson, a member of the Corsicana High School Tigers’ football team from 1996-1998, Navarro College Bulldogs 1999-2000, and Arkansas State 2001-2002, will be on the sideline or press box at the New Orleans Bowl Tuesday, Dec. 20, as a Arkansas State third-year student-graduate assistant coach.

The New Orleans Bowl, a first of 28 bowl matchups, pits Arkansas State, Sun Belt No. 1, against Southern Miss of Conference U.S.A.

Shane was voted Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A first-team All-State linebacker his senior year at CHS in 1998.

I’m certain ex-CHS Tiger head coach Tom Wilson, defensive coordinator Jeff Berry, longtime CHS defensive coach Randy Green, and Navarro College Bulldogs’ Chuck Lawrence would all agree that Shane Tolleson is an outstanding young man with a great attitude and has a tremendous love for the game of football. Should Shane choose the coaching profession as a lifetime vocation, he will definitely be a good one.
