Ten down, two to go.

That's where Corsicana's Tigers are today after facing the toughest week of the season -- a nightmare two-game stretch against Midlothian and Joshua with a musical chairs lineup that somehow survived to gain a split and hang on to first place with an emotional 9-4 win over Joshua on Friday.

Jim Gush already has a game ball for his first win as Navarro's head coach, awarded to him this week by retiring district president Dr. Richard Sanchez and the man replacing him, Dr. Kevin Fegan.

And while Gush is the head man, it's not easy to take the defensive coach out of him. After the results of the No. 18 Bulldogs' season-opening win over No. 15 Georgia Military — a 31-29 victory — it's great to say you had some say-so in how the defense performed in Game 1.
