The Rice Bulldogs had not tasted defeat in a long time until Thursday night.

Anderson-Shiro handed Rice just its third loss of 2006 with a convincing 10-0 six-inning victory in a Region III-1A semifinal contest at Lorena High School.

The Rice-Dawson All-Golden Circle regional final possibility is no more as sophomore left-hander Tim Harris (8-2) used effective off-speed pitches to no-hit the third-ranked Bulldogs (26-3).

Harris struck out six and also drove in two runs. Ryan Brown and Ryan Wingard also had two hits apiece. Fourth-ranked Anderson-Shiro (24-5) awaits the Dawson-Dallardsville Big Sandy best-of-three series winner in next week’s Region III-1A finals.

Sixth-ranked Dawson (27-4) hammered No. 9 Dallardsville Big Sandy, 11-1, Tuesday night in Crockett and go for the sweep Saturday night at Crockett High School.
