Kerens had two players from the Bobcats baseball team selected to the Texas Sports Writers Association's Class 2A All-State team.
Tate Engel, a pitcher and third baseman who is a four-year All-State player, made the team as a member of the Honorable Mention list and senior Brady Blue was selected to the second-team in the outfield
Both Engel and Blue were named to the Texas Baseball Coaches Association’s Class 2A All-State team earlier this summer.
Engel was a first-team selection at third base and Blue made the TBCA’s second-team in the outfield.
Blue hit .488 with a .699 OBP and a 1.234 OPS.
Tate, whose father Jayson, coaches the Bobcats, has put up impressive numbers every year, and had mind-boggling numbers as a senior.
He hit .553 (21 for 38) and 12 of his 21 hits were for extra bases, including four triples and six homers.
He drove in 31 runs in 22 games and had a whopping .714 on-base-percentage to go along with incredible numbers in slugging (1.078) and OPS (1.793).
He went 4-2 with a save on the mound, where he had a 0.85 ERA.
He struck out 72 batters in 31 innings while walking only 13 to top off an incredible career.
