Corsicana’s Tigers will play Frisco Lone Star in the Class 5A Region II Semifinal in a best-of-three series this week at Dallas Baptist University.
Tiger fans will have a chance to send the Tigers off to the fourth round of the playoffs with a city-wide Sendoff at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Fans will meet at Northside Baptist Church (at the corner of Beaton Street and Forrest Lane) and are encouraged to bring signs, posters, pom-poms, noise makers etc. etc. to the Northside Baptist Church parking lot. The Tigers’ bus will pass through at 2 p.m.
Here's the three game-series schedule:
Game 1 is at 5 p.m. Wednesday
Game 2 is at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Game 3 (if needed) is at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The Tigers (25-9) haven't been this far in the playoffs since 2007, but this year's team has forged its way through the first three rounds, beating North Forney in a best-of-three series to win the bi-district title, and coming back to beat Lindale 9-5 at Price Field, where the Tigers scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to storm back and win the Area round one-game, winner-take-all playoff.
They knocked off Joshua in the Region II Quarterfinals, winning Game 3 of that best-of-three series 4-3 on Saturday to advance to the Region II Semifinals.
They have won four of the five games they have played at Dallas Baptist University during the postseason, going 2-0 against North Forney and going 2-1 to beat Joshua.
