Corsicana's Tigers will play Joshua at 10 a.m. Saturday in Game 3 of their best-of-three series back at Dallas Baptist University to decide the Class 5A Region Quarterfinal round.
Joshua forced a Game 3 showdown by beating the Tigers 6-O Friday night at DBU, where the Owls scored a run in the first, three in the second and a run in the third to take a 5-0 lead.
Corsicana starter Micah Burke settled down after the rough start and retired nine in a row before allowing a run in the top of the seventh but the Tigers couldn't get anything going against Joshua ace Matt Haley, a New Mexico University signee who opened the playoffs with a 13-strikeout perfect game against Mesquite Poteet.
Haley kept the Owls' season alive and is now 1-1 against the Tigers, who beat him 5-0 in a District 14-5A game last month at Price Field.
The Tigers (23-9) beat Joshua 12-11 Thursday to win the opening game of the series and have now split four games with the Owls, including their two showdowns in the district race.
The winner of the fifth meeting of the year on Saturday advances to the Region II Semifinals against the winner of the Lovejoy-Frisco Lone Star three-game series.
