Corsicana's Tiger basketball team opened the season at home Friday night against Terrell.
The Tigers, who are short-handed because of players on the playoff football team, lost 51-38.
"We competed well," said Corsicana coach Nic Claiborne, who has his youngest team and starts three sophomores. "It was a back and forth game. We trailed by seven at halftime, and cut it to four at the end of the third. They started the fourth with a 6-0 run and that was the difference in the game.
The Tigers were led by Manny Haggerty, a four-year starter who scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds and handed out five assists.
Dabraylan Chambers, a sophomore, sored 11 points and sophomore Carlos Clemons led the team on the boards with 10 rebounds while scoring eight points. Colin Smith, another sophomore, had two blocks, two rebounds and took two charges.
