DAWSON -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and most schools show support with Pink Out Games.

Dawson Cheerleaders promoted a campaign for awareness of all cancers after having multiple staff members and students were personally affected by cancer. The stands were full of people affected by this terrible disease. The Dawson Bulldogs' own Jordan Dechaume has beaten ALL Leukemia and has been cancer free for four years. He came to Dawson being a warrior and now he’s able to battle on the gridiron after winning the battle against cancer.

Dawson's Bulldogs remained unbeaten in district play Friday night and clinched a spot in the Class 2A DII playoffs with a 56-0 victory over Frost.

The cold air moved in to the area Friday and Frost came to Dawson hoping for a repeat of last week’s victory. Dawson wasn’t having it this year and what cold air that blew in was warmed up by the Bulldogs on both sides of the ball.

Dawson showed no mercy and looked like the team we saw early in the season against Valley Mills. The Bulldogs were playing to score every play of the game.

Dawson’s Jakoby Moore struck first on a 5 yard run for a TD. The following 2 point conversion was no good. Da’Mariyea Hamilton had an 11 yard scoring run and followed that up with a 2 point conversion that was good.

Dawson had Frost stopped and Ramon Manrriquez punted for the Polar Bears, trying to get the Bulldogs away from a scoring position. Dawson’s Jakoby Moore received the punt and had a 51 yard return for a score. James Drake took the ball in on the two point conversion.

The Bulldogs got the ball back after a quick offensive stent from Frost. Dawson’s Ja’Mariyea Hamilton punched the ball in on a 3 yard run, and Zane Guerra was good on the point after kick.

Zane Guerra has shown to have a decent leg for the Bulldogs this year as they go to him most for kick offs and field goals. Tonight, Guerra’s leg was showing even greater strength as he had multiple deep kick offs and successful point after attempts.

The Bulldogs weren’t ready to stop as half time approached. Brendan Horner had a 4 yard TD on a quarterback keeper to end the first half of play. These two teams showed great sportsmanship, even in the heat of battle. Hit after hit and these kids would turn help each other up and go at it again. It’s the nature of small town football. Creating stories that will stand the test of time.

The second half started with a 51 yard rushing score by Da’Mariyea Hamilton and an extra point kick by Guerra. Dawson made its final statement on a 51 yard score on a punt return by Jakoby Moore. Dawson was led offensively by Jakoby Moore with 125 yards on 6 carries, Brendan Horner with 75 yards on 7 carries, D. Hamilton had 62 yards on 2 carries, Cade Onstott had 60 yards on 6 carries. Several more Bulldogs had positive yardage in tonights games, showing that the Bulldogs are a one man show.

Frost was led by Antoni Alvarado with 15 yards on 16 carries and Korben Bowling with 35 yards on 2 receptions.

Defensively the Bulldogs were led by Zane Guerra with 7 tackles and a sack. Dawson made a statement that they are a new team. They want to win and are doing what they need to do in order to be ready for the next game. Dawson will face Mart next week and will be the toughest game they will see this year, by most accounts.
