Corsicana Tigers fans will get their first chance to see Hal Wasson’s Tigers at home Friday night when the Tigers face Saginaw Boswell at 7:30 Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

Wasson’s Tigers are coming off a tough opening night loss to No. 13 Burleson Centennial on the road.

Sophomore quarterback Solomon James threw for 396 yards and three touchdowns and Lane Fuentes, Qua Chambers and Drew Denbow all had touchdown receptions and big nights receiving in a 34-21 loss.

Boswell is a Class 5A DI school that returns 15 starters, including eight on offense from a team that reached the playoffs last year.

The Pioneers are led by quarterback Brayden Thomas, a four-year starter who threw for 288 yards and two touchdowns in a 47-34 loss to Wichita Falls Rider.

The Tigers came back twice to beat Boswell 26-21 on the road last year.

After beginning the season on the road, several Golden Circle teams will be at home this week.

Mildred, which saw tailback Bishop Harris score six touchdowns in a big win over Leon last week, will be at at home against Italy, and GC rivals Kerens and Blooming Grove will play a non-district game at Lion Stadium in Blooming Grove, where new coach Ervin Chandler’s team opened the season with a 39-0 win over Cross Roads last week.

Rice had a big win at home last week against Groesbeck and will be at home Friday to face Rio Vista.

The two teams didn’t play last year in the second week of the season because rain storms washed out the game in Rio Vista.

Dawson will be at home against Bartlett after beating Axtell 34-6 in Waco and Frost is at Granger and Hubbard is at Itasca Friday.
