UPDATE:  Hubbard is coming off a 21-16 home loss to Bosqueville after leading 16-7 at the half ... Bremond routed Class 3A Hearne  40-8 in Week 1 and ripped Class 2A power Thorndale 54-28 last week … Bremond returns 25 letterman and seven starters on both sides of the ball from a squad that finished 12-1 in 2013 with its only defeat coming in a 24-7 playoff loss to Tenaha in the Regional Finals … Hubbard has struggled on offense ... QB Braydyn Gillham is 6-of-28 for 89 yards ... James Jones (32 carries for 289 yards, 5 TDs), and QB Paul (182 yards and 3 TDs and 10-17 for 171 yards, 3 TDs) have led Bremond.

UPDATE:  First ever meeting between the two schools … Rice beat rival Frost last week, 41-13, while Brock christened its  new stadium with a 47-6 win over Early … with a 2-0 start for the second time in modern school history, the Bulldogs are off to their best start since 2004… Rice  DL Daniel Briones had 12 tackles and combined for a sack and Dustin Shortnacy had 7 tackles last week … Chris Atchley scored four times last week and leads the Golden Circle in rushing yards and touchdowns … Boleman (164 yards in the air, 2 TDs) led Brock last week ... Gray has 4 TDs in two games to lead Brock in scoring.

UPDATE:  Mildred is looking for its first win ... Elkhart will be looking to rebound after being routed by Leon a week ago … Mildred looks to improve  on offense behind QB Wesley Huitt  and need to limit turnovers ... the Eagles have given up 97 points over the last two games … Elkhart is led by their prolific QB Sheridan with multiple threats all over the field … WR Chad Taylor is coming off a huge game with 119 receiving yards … the Elks defense is led by Box and Tanner Tunstall, who combined for 27 tackles last week … the Elks passing offense might have a field day with Mildred’s young secondary .. the game could be a shootout.

Hernandez is developing into a weapon for field position with a  32.8-yard punting average …Lopez, Torres, and their line mates will have to get gritty in the trenches against Axtell, which is led by upperclassman Coone, King, Marroquin, and Johnny Rodriguez … Axtell is coming off a 28-21 win against Bruceville-Eddy… RB Dylan Haralson (28-193 yards and 3 TDs) led the Longhorns.

UPDATE:  Italy, a tradition power, has been shocked in its first two games, losing to Kerens 54-0 and Maypearl 56-0 and will be looking to score its first points of the season against a Lions defense that has given up 159 yards in two games, holding teams to -18 yards on the ground ... Tyler Ellis (19-23-272 yards, 4 TDs) is the top QB in the Golden Circle and Brandon Hays (11-118) is the top receiver in the GC ... this is the third road game in a row for the Lions ... It’s Italy’s first home game ... the Lions are 25-29-3 all-time against Italy, which has won the last two meetings.

Life lost 54-14 to Maypearl in the opener and was hammered by Blooming Grove 47-12 last week ... Life has rushed for a total of 96 yards in two games ... Patrick (13-59) and Muhammad (8-56) are the leading rushers ...  the Bulldogs have been led by QB Zach Jones, TE/DE Daniel Trantham and RB/LB Dalton Dunnahoe.
