Mildred and Blooming Grove both produced powerhouse softball teams this spring and both teams saw several players receive post-season honors on the District 18-3A All-District softball team.
Blooming Grove’s Tatum Briggs, who was one of the top pitchers and top hitters in the district, and Mildred shortstop Callie Waller, who has been arguably the best overall hitter in the district the past two seasons, were the Co-MVPs of the district after leading their respective teams to the playoffs.
Both are seniors.
Mildred also had three players receive superlative honors on the All-District team.
Sophomore pitcher Maddie Griffin, who had a sensational season on the mound from Mildred, where she was the ace of the Lady Eagles staff, was the District 18-3A Pitcher of the Year, and Mildred catcher Taylor Steele, a four-year starter who has been a leader at Mildred on and off the field since she was a freshman, was the 18-3A Co-Catcher of the Year.
Alyssa Bates is the 18-3 A Offensive Player of the Year after another monster season at the plate.
Mildred also had two players named to the All-District first-team as Chloe Dulworth and Jewell Caudle both won first-team honors.
Mildred’s Nikki Turner, Chesney Richards and Payton Jennings were all named to the second-team.
Blooming Grove dominated the District 18-3A first-team selections as four Lady Lions earned first-team honors.
The Skains Twins, Macie and Riley who have been stars at Blooming Grove for four years, were both named to the first team.
Kasey Fisher, another four-year star at the Grove and one of the best power hitters in the Golden Circle, was also named to the first-team, and Madison Peterson earned first-team honors for the Lady Lions.
Three players from Blooming Grove were named to the second-team.
Kristin Keating, a senior, earned second-team honors and sophomores Alex Fisher and Reece Briggs also made the second-team.
Blooming Grove catcher Tory Cox was an Honorable Mention selection.
