Corsicana’s fall tennis team will be back in the playoffs again, keeping a 35-year postseason streak alive. The Tigers defeated Midlothian Tuesday night to clinch the district runner-up spot.

The Streak is alive and well.

And so are the  Corsicana tennis players who began the season talking about how important the Streak was to them, and then went out and added their names to the long list of players who have made the Streak happen.

When the Tigers beat Midlothian 11-8 Tuesday night they clinched the district runner-up spot, nailing down a berth in the postseason for the 35th year in a row for the Fall Team Tennis program, which is based on team results and not individual placement like tennis in the spring.

The Tigers are now 13-5 for the season and 4-1 in the district race with one match left — they play Joshua on Tuesday.

The Tigers begin postseason play on Oct. 14.

“It’s been a great season so far,” Corsicana tennis coach Chad White said. “The kids work hard and commit to the program.”
