Frost’s Lexi Banks, a freshman, is having a big year for the 8-1 Lady Polar Bears. She had seven kills and an ace in Frost's sweep over Itasca Tuesday night.

The Frost Lady Polar Bears won their district opening volleyball game Tuesday, taking the first step to making another playoff run.

Elaine Woods’ team has reached the playoffs six consecutive seasons and the 2019 group could be one of her best in years.

Frost not only defeated Itasca to win the district opener 25-7, 25-18, 25-12 on the road in Itasca., but they came back strong and improved to 2-0 in the district race with a tough, five-set victory over Covington on Tuesday night at home.

In the district opener, Kyra Cerda had four kills and six aces and Sydney Woods had 16 assists, a kill, two aces and two digs.

Kinsley Fuller came through with nine aces, three kills and two digs.

Emily De La Hoya had three kills, Lexi Banks had three kills and one dig and Haley Moss had two kills.

Fuller, Woods, Cerda, De La Hoya, Banks and Moss led Frost in the five-set win over Covington on Tuesday.

Frost plays Blum in a key district showdown at 3:30 p.m. at Frost.
