Corsicana’s Paige Franks was named to the District 14-5A All-District first-team. Franks a senior, led the Lady Tigers with 158 kills and 125 digs and had a 2.25 serve-and-receive rating for the season.

Corsicana’s Lady Tigers had a successful volleyball season and three members of the team were named to the District 14-5A All-District volleyball team, and two others made the district’s Honorable Mention list.

The Lady Tigers won 16 matches this year.

Paige Franks, a senior who led the Lady Tigers all year, was named to the District 14-5A first-team as a hitter.

Franks was a leader on and off the court and led Corsicana with 158 kills this season.

She also had 175 digs and 25 aces from the service line. Franks finished the season with a sterling 2.25 serve-and-receive rating.

Lara Bwcheilug, a junior who has started since she was a freshman, and Nayeli Lara were both named to the All-District Second-Team.

Bwcheilug, a setter who did a little of everything, finished the season with 250 assists and 186 digs and 12 kills.

 She also was one of the team’s top servers with 46 aces. Bwcheilug ended the season with a 2.33 serve-and-receive rating.

Lara, a senior, had 114 kills and 185 digs, and nailed 28 aces from the service line. She finished with a 2.21 service-and-receive rating.

Madison DePugh and Iriadna were both named to the district’s Honorable Mention list.

Several players earned All-District Academic honors.

Brinly Burke, Blair Dunn, Kayla Esa, Gabriella James, Claire Johnson, Nayeli Lara and Sifuentes all were named to the All-Academic team.

Corsicana coach Marshequa Gentry gave out team awards last week.

Franks was named the team’s MVP and Lara and James brought home the Lady Tigers’ Co-Offensive Players of the Year.

Bwcheilug and Sifuentes were named Co-Defensive Players of the Year.

Johnson and Burke were named Co-winners of the Always More Heart Award.
