Mildred’s Abby Huitt, seen here in a game from last season, had 18 assists Tuesday to help the Lady Eagles beat Palestine 3-1.

High school volleyball season opened Tuesday night and Mildred built on the momentum of last year’s big season and started the season off with a victory over Class 4A Palestine 25-13, 25-17, 19-25, 25-17.

Mildred was led offensively by some familiar faces with Abby Huitt distributing 18 assists and Lilly Hanna terminating 9 kills and 6 blocks.

Newcomers Mason Ivie, Hannah Middleton, and Landry Fleming added 9 kills, 5 kill, and 5 kills respectively.

Nikki Turner anchored the defense with 19 digs.

Kenli Dalton, another newcomer to the Mildred varsity team chipped in 11 assists for the Lady Eagles.

The JV1 and JV2 teams both won in straight sets.
