Kerens’ Hannah Hall made the most of her trip to the Texas coast during spring break last week. She wasn’t there to get a golden tan, but there to pick up some gold.
Hall won the Class 1A girls 220-pound class state powerlifting title in Corpus Christi, hoisting a combined 875 pounds. That total topped Center Point’s Karlee Lyon by 35 pounds.
Hall separated herself in the deadlift, totalling 360 pounds, 35 pounds more than Ganado’s Sara Demicelli, who finished fourth overall. Hall squatted 350 pounds, second-most in her class, and benched 165, also tops in the class.
In the Class 2A meet, Blooming Grove’s Desiree Wiggins finished fifth in the 105 class with a total lift of 635 pounds. She was five pounds out of medal contention.
Mildred’s Asya’Na Jackson was also fifth, with a total of 850 pounds in the 165s. Her 400-pound deadlift equaled the total of gold-medal winning Del Garza of Hebbronville for best in class.
Vanessa McNiel of Blooming Grove also made it to state, finishing 15th in the 181s with a total of 725.
