The Blooming Grove Lions and Lady Lions finished 10th and 18th, respectively, Saturday at the Region II-2A Cross-Country Championships at Arlington’s Vandergriff Park.

Michael Lippencutt paced the Lions with a 10th-place showing (17:34.36) followed by Donnie LaRue (30th, 18:39.99), Coe Hawkins (43rd, 19:03.43), Chris Derden (100th, 20:59.59), Ryan LaRue (104th, 21:15.44), Jason Robertson (113th, 21:36.83) and Clint Herbert (125th, 22:23.99).

Krum won the overall title followed by Brock, Ponder, Anna, and Argyle. Prosper won the girls crown ahead of Argyle, Brock, Celina, and Hamilton.

Margaret Byers led the Lady Lions (50th, 13:56.38). Mandy Watkins (109th, 15:07.39), Rebecca Bennett (112th, 15:11.45), Brittany Blackman (118th, 15:19.24), Cecilly Phillips (135th, 15:41.77) and Alyssa Campbell (138th, 15:54.55) also competed for Blooming Grove.

Former Mildred and Mexia standout Loren Hodges won the girl’s individual title in a time of 11:53.88. The Paradise High School senior is on a tear after winning the 3,200- and 1,600-meter runs last May at the Class 2A state meet.
