Navarro’s softball team opened its season by going 3-1 over the weekend at the Coyote Chillout in Weatherford.
Jessica-Karenke-Burke’s team lost to Weatherford 7-5 then won three in a row with wins over NCTC (13-7), Cowley, Ks. (12-3) and Weatherford (2-0).
Jada Woolley went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs against Cowley, and Janay Reynolds went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs in the 12-3 win Saturday. Sarah Koeppen went 2-for-2 with three walks and scored three runs, and Jessa Johnson drove in two runs.
Eliana Carrizales and Lorin Reue pitched for Navarro.
In the final game Saturday, Lindsey Garner and Brooklyn Swacker combined for the shutout in the 2-0 win over Weatherford. Garner went six innings, allowing five hits and Swacker pitcher a perfect sixth.
Faith Fernandez, who hit two home runs over the weekend, doubled and scored on a error and Alanna Islas doubled and scored on Bayja Newby’s two out double.
