The Corsicana Tigers, the surprise team in the District 17-5A boys basketball race, landed three players on the 17-5A All-District first team and three more on the second-team as coach Nic Claiborne's team displayed more balance than any team in the district.

The Tigers, who were picked to finish last, surprised everyone and beat every team in the district except unbeaten Whitehouse, which went on to advance to the Class 5A Region III Final.

Three Tigers led the way all year and each of them led the team in scoring on different nights this season. All three were voted to the first-team. Ji'Ryn Young, who averaged 11.3 points and 5.9 rebounds a game, led the way. Devan Lindsey averaged 11.4 points and 5.3 rebounds a night, and Connor Hutchins averaged 10.2 points and 5.8 rebounds as all three of the Tigers' first-team selections scored in double figures and averaged more than five rebounds a game.

All three are seniors

Three other Tigers made the second team as sophomore point guard Manny Haggerty, senior guard Colt Kuykendall and defensive specialist Caleb Watkins, a senior who always guards the opponents’ bet player, all earned second-team honors.

Lindsey, Watkins, Hutchins, Kuykendall, James Reynolds and Ishmael Eddington were all named to the All-District All-Academic team.
