The Wortham Bulldogs rebounded from an early 2-0 deficit to score seven unanswered runs and knock off Bosqueville, 7-2, in a Region III-1A bi-district baseball playoff Tuesday in Lorena.

The Bulldogs (16-6) now advance to the regional quarterfinals, where they will face another Golden Circle opponent, Rice.

Wortham posted three runs in the third and another three in the fourth after Bosqueville had scored one each in the first and second innings.

Bosqueville (14-13) threatened Wortham starter Colt Sutton in the top of the sixth inning by getting runners on second and third with no outs. But shortstop Jody Spain made a clutch diving stop and putout, and Sutton followed it up with two straight strikeouts to end the threat.

Sutton improved to 7-1 on the season after striking out five in a complete-game three-hitter with no earned runs. Tyler Minyard took the loss for Bosqueville.

Spain led the Bulldogs at the plate with a 2-for-2 effort, three runs scored and two RBI. John Jarrell went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, while Justin Farmer went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Cord Samuels went 1-for-3.
